When the cover isn't latching or it is lifting when you press the button, please try the 3 troubleshooting steps below. A Torx T10 screwdriver will be required.
1. Please ensure that you’re not using the release handle to lock the hood. Instead, gently press the hood down by hand.
2. Please check if the lock ring (the silver, bottom part of the cover that locks in the base) is moving. If it seems stuck, we would recommend you give it some movement left and right. That should normally do the trick.

3. If the above didn't work, you can also loosen the 4 screws on the cover of the machine and then tighten them again. Then the locking mechanism should move back to the starting position.
